Recommendation written by an anonymous Beulah Library patron

This book is a different take on life in a concentration camp. Lale is the person who has to tattoo the newest prisoners to Auschwitz and Birkenau. Due to his job, he gets some special privileges that the other prisoners do not. The story follows Lale from his home to why he ended up in the concentration camp and the years to follow. The main focus on the story is how Lale manages to find the love of his life within the confines of the concentration camp and does everything he can to keep himself and his love alive in a constant fight for their lives. This is a great book to get an inside look at life within a concentration camp without dwelling on all the horrible atrocities that occurred there. The book is based off of Lale’s true story with some changes made to it.
